Litigation gave him something accounting never could.
Law school followed at SMU. Inside of his first semester, he knew he wanted to be a litigator. A courtroom, an opponent, and a client whose outcome he could fight for — that was the work.
Greg began his legal career in a small town in East Texas where he had the ability to practice a wide range of practice areas and be in the courtroom. Family law brought him back to Dallas and he's been there ever since.
Greg joined WEBB Family Law in 2020 and is now a partner and owner. His practice covers the full range of Texas family law — divorce, custody, property division, modifications, enforcement, pre- and post-nuptial agreements — with a particular focus on the cases where the financial side is hard. Closely-held businesses in a marital estate. Separate property that has to be traced and proven. Reimbursement claims. Multi-jurisdictional estates that don't fit neatly into one courtroom. The cases other family lawyers send out the door to experts and hope come back right — those are the cases that come to him.
Greg Beane grew up in Pittsburg, Texas, the son of two teachers. His mother taught math and ran the school's competition team. So before he was ever a lawyer, before he was an accountant, before he had a degree to his name, he was a math kid — most weekends either on a basketball court, a baseball diamond, or at a math meet. The instinct to compete and the instinct to solve a problem set in early, side by side.
An academic scholarship took him to East Texas Baptist University, where he earned a degree in accounting. After a few years working in the field, the work was fine, the work paid, but the work was boring. He went back for an MBA in Finance at UT Arlington — and that's how he found himself in the Dallas area.
The numbers in a complex divorce go through him. Not around him.

A BBA in Accounting, an MBA in Finance, and years of work inside the numbers before law school mean Greg reads the financial record himself. He works with valuation experts and forensic accountants when a case needs them — but he reads what they produce with the literacy to challenge it, build on it, and put it in front of a court.
He still wants to win — these days, for his clients.
